People who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or recently homeless in the last 12 months are referred to Beam by a charity or local authority. We also support refugees and prison leavers who face barriers to work and housing.

Every person referred and their unique history and circumstances is considered by Beam and the person that refers them. However, generally individuals must meet our eligibility criteria, which can be read on this page.

"Homeless" can mean a variety of things: from rough sleepers to "sofa surfers" to those being housed by their local authority in homeless shelters or bed and breakfasts. Most of the people we support are residents in temporary accommodation.
