Beam is increasingly supporting the homeless people who fundraise on our platform into more stable housing. This usually involves raising their first month’s rent and rental deposit, so that they can move into more permanent accommodation. An example of this is Marcus, who used Beam to train to be a security guard. As you can see in his budget breakdown, he also raised a total of £2,050 to cover his rent and deposit.
A number of the people we support are eligible for social housing, and are on the waiting list to receive this housing. Each individual and their situation is unique, so we always act in the best interests of the person we’re supporting. Sometimes that will involve supporting them into accommodation, and sometimes it won’t.
