It's important to us that every person Beam supports is mentally and physically ready to enter full-time work. Drug and alcohol addiction can sadly significantly affect that readiness. Often, such individuals need to seek other, specialised support and treatment before joining Beam.

Beam does not exclude individuals with a history of drug or alcohol addiction or problematic usage and generally looks to see a minimum of 12 weeks' abstinence before an individual is ready to join. Beam is also very happy to work with individuals staying in "dry hostels" and who are in recovery.
