It's important for us that every Beam member is mentally and physically ready to enter full-time employment. Drug and alcohol addiction can sadly significantly affect that readiness. Typically, such individuals need to seek other, specialised support and treatment before joining Beam.
Beam does not exclude individuals with a history of drug or alcohol addiction or problematic usage and generally looks to see a minimum of 12 weeks' abstinence before an individual is ready to join. Beam is also very happy to work with homeless individuals staying in "dry hostels" and who are in recovery.
While those currently suffering from drug and alcohol addiction cannot use Beam to raise funds for training, Beam expects to open up non-funding profiles in the second half of 2018 so individuals wishing too can also have the opportunity to tell their story and build their network.
